Wendy Clarke started her career writing short fiction and serials for national women’s magazines, quickly becoming one of The People’s Friend’s top writers, with her stories appearing in the magazine most weeks. She has also had stories long and shortlisted in competitions including the BBC Radio 4 Opening Lines competition.

After having over three hundred short stories published, Wendy now writes novels in the psychological fiction genre.

Her debut thriller, What She Saw, won the Flash500 Novel Opening and Synopsis competition in 2017 and was later published by Bookouture. It was recently longlisted for the Guardian Not the Booker Prize and the RNA Joan Hessayon Award. Her second novel, We Were Sisters, came out in August.

Wendy has published three collections of short stories and has been a short story judge for the Chiltern Writers Group, Nottingham Writers Group, The Society of Women Writers and journalists and the NAWG. She has also written articles for Writing Magazine.

Wendy lives with her husband and step-dog in Sussex and when not writing is usually dancing, singing or watching any programme that involves food!
